Getting your wings or license is hard work. You will find that there are a number of hours of theory you will have to complete before making it to the fun stuff. Once you have completed the theory set work, you will have to spend time with the simulator.

Here you will spend 40 or more hours in training and no, you cannot do all of them at once. It takes a few months, sometimes a year to get through helicopter pilot training.

If you decide to go for fixed wing training, you will have to spend most of your time sitting on the runway waiting for clearance to take off and you will not learn much. However, when you are in a helicopter, you learn from the word go because once you are airborne, you start learning.

You also need a 3rd class medical certificate to become a pilot. Apart from the 40 hours or so flight training, you will also have to spend an additional 10 hours of solo flight time. Theory work alone takes up about 8 months of your time, so you will have to be prepared for this.
